Terms and conditions

General Information

Emma Ramanathan Equine Osteopathy provides equine osteopathic assessment and treatment services to horses. By booking an appointment you are agreeing to the terms and conditions below.

Professional Conduct & Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966

  • Under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and the Exemptions Order 2015, equine osteopathic treatments may only be carried out with the consent of the horse’s registered veterinary surgeon.

  • It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that this consent is obtained prior to the initial appointment. A signed veterinary referral or verbal consent (documented by us) is acceptable.

  • No diagnosis of injury or disease will be made; osteopathic care is provided as a complementary therapy to support performance, comfort, and wellbeing.

  • We will always work in conjunction with veterinary surgeons and other professionals involved in the horse’s care.

Appointments & Cancellations

  • A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling.

  • Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment will be charged 50% of the treatment fee.

  • Missed appointments or cancellations within 24 hours will be charged in full.

  • Exceptions may be made at our discretion for emergencies or exceptional circumstances.

Payment Terms

  • Payment is due on the day of treatment, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • Accepted payment methods: [e.g. cash, bank transfer, card, mobile payment].

Equine Health & Owner Responsibility

  • The horse must be clean, dry, and safely restrained for treatment.

  • The client must disclose any known medical conditions, behavioural issues, or injuries prior to treatment.

  • If the practitioner deems the horse unfit for treatment (e.g. due to injury, illness, unsafe behaviour, or lack of veterinary consent), the session will not proceed and the appointment fee may still apply.

  • Owners or handlers must remain present throughout the session.

Confidentiality & Data Protection

  • All personal and veterinary information is treated as strictly confidential and handled in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • Client data will only be shared with veterinary professionals or other therapists directly involved in the horse’s care, and only with consent.
